Shipping Container Home Build

This model is a shipping container model. I built this to illustrate what I would like to do for a shipping container home build. I started from start and built the model to show the process I would use. The idea is to cut the container into sections, IE: four sections, two 8′ H by 40′ L two 8′ H by 4′ L The floor sections are cut out completely, so in essence you have flat panel walls, two short, two very long. You cut up two 40′ L by 8′ H containers in this way. You keep the four sections 40′ L by 8′ H and make them into a square, weld those sections and mount them on the foundation, bolted. That gives you approximately a 41′ by 41′ square. These shipping containers are built to be stacked 5 high without problems, so the 41′ by 41′ square can handle a roof load without trouble. I chose to go to a scrap yard and buy used metal building roof rafters to cover a 45′ span.

This gives a good overhang on two sides, weld up an overhang for the other two sides. The roof rafters are prefit and the metal roofing material should be available also, and or just order the roof set-up with the roofing panels from a steel building manufacturer. #shippingcontainers #shippingcontainerhouse #3dmodels #dellsweet #ofxmodeler #DirectX
